Wilma Schoenrock, Wife of Former Missions Director, Dies

      Wilma Faye Schoenrock, 86 of Mesquite, Texas, passed away June 10. She had a servant’s heart and taught women’s ministry classes, served as National WMA president and sang in the church choir.

      Mrs. Schoenrock attended Jacksonville Baptist College in 1958 where she met her husband, BMA Pastor James Schoenrock. He surrendered to the ministry in June 1949 at First, Grand Saline, Texas and was ordained in April 1958 by First, Jacksonville, Texas. She served alongside him as he pastored 11 churches in Arkansas and Texas, including Wakefield (now Village Creek), Little Rock. He also served as assistant director of Missions for the BMA of America from Aug. 1979-April 1982, when he was elected to serve as the director of Missions. He also served as vice president and president of the BMA of America.

      Survivors include: James, her husband of 65 years, who took care of her until the end; a daughter, Tammie S. (Mark) Davis; a son, David Schoenrock; a sister, Shirley Kahla; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

      A celebration of her life was held on June 17 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas (newhopefh.com).
