JUST THINKING: Out of the Molds of Isaiah and Paul

As we enter the second month of 2025, I was just thinking about the global missions endeavor of the BMA of America. Please remember that Sunday, Feb. 27, is World Missions Day in BMA churches!

         • Missions is not a New Concept — Many have a limited perspective of the work of missions. That is a United States view, and from our country, we began sending Christian missionaries to evangelize other countries around the world. Truthfully, our nation is the recipient of missions! The gospel of Christ was brought to this continent, not the other way around. However, the sending out with the Word of God has always been the working of God among the nations.

         • From the Molds of Two Missionaries — Isaiah is an example of one who received a call from the Lord. Via a vision, God revealed to him a need. That is how the Lord worked 2,800 years ago and how He still does so today.

The Lord, convicting Isaiah of his spiritually unclean condition, showed him the common need for all — salvation. Isaiah realized the need. Then, God extended a call requiring a decision and a commitment. “Then the Lord said, ‘Who shall I send?’” (Isa. 6:8 NIV184). Isaiah did not say, “Let me look around and see if I can find someone.” No. God was looking for a certain someone, and that someone was Isaiah! He responded, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isa. 6:8).

         • Same Song, Second Verse — A misguided religious zealot named Saul wreaked havoc on the early disciples as they began to take the gospel from Jerusalem to other cities. The man was a person, like Isaiah, with an unclean heart. But God can take blemished vessels and make them instruments useful for His purpose.

As Christ struck Saul blind while he and others trekked toward Damascus, Saul was made aware of some of his own needs and those of the people of the Mediterranean area. Saul cried out to the Lord, “What shall I do, Lord?” (Acts 22:10). Now, this is my personal translation of what God could have said: “Saul, get up and go!” Both Isaiah and Paul had personal calls to go for the Lord. That is what missionaries do. The mold was set long ago and is still the model for missions today.

         • Give Your Prayer Share — The need to evangelize the world for Christ and plant churches in other countries is as great today as ever. There are 8.2 billion humans on this planet. The vast majority do not know of the God of Heaven who sent Jesus Christ to die for their sins and provide them everlasting life. That is exactly why Christ gave this commission before He ascended: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matt. 28:18-20).

BMA Global continues to send missionaries, but many more are needed. Will you pray that many will hear and heed God’s call? Until Feb. 27, please give your prayer share daily. Then, on World Missions Day, please join with others in BMA churches around the world and give your fair share. As Former Secretary of Interstate and Foreign Missions Craig Branham said so often, “Missions is our Mission!
