Women’s Basketball
• Paragould, Feb. 11 — On the road for a rare Tuesday night contest, CBC took on the Crowley’s Ridge College (CRC) Pioneers at the Carter Activities Center. CBC (9-13, 7-11 AMC) trailed at halftime and ultimately lost 86-62 to CRC (9-15, 3-15 AMC). Raigan Head led with another double-double, finishing with 20 points for the third consecutive game and grabbing 16 rebounds. Aliya Grotjohn contributed 14 points, while Addison Hudspeth added 11.
• Conway, Feb. 14 — Not quite having locked up a spot in the AMC tournament, CBC hosted the Eagles of Williams Baptist University (WBU) at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (9-14, 7-12 AMC) only trailed by four at halftime and nearly came back in the second half before falling to the current top team in the AMC WBU (22-3, 18-1 AMC) 77-67. Aliya Grotjohn led the way for CBC with 16 points, while Raigan Head added 15, and Addison Hudspeth chipped in with 12. Head also grabbed 12 rebounds for her eighth double-double this season. CBC outshot the Eagles from the floor 41% to 40% and made two more three-pointers (8 to 6) while outrebounding the Eagles 42-41. The difference in the contest was turnovers, as CBC committed 23 while WBU committed only 8.
• Hannibal, Mo., Feb. 15 — Playing on the road for the final time in the regular season, CBC took on the Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) Trojans in an AMC clash inside the Mabee Sports Complex. CBC (10-14, 8-12 AMC) led by 16 at halftime and finished the game well, beating HLGU (3-23, 0-20 AMC) 73-63. Aliya Grotjohn, Raigan Head and Tamara Christmas finished in double figures, scoring for the Lady Mustangs. CBC held HLGU to just three-of-16 from the three-point arc and outrebounded the Trojans 38-30.
Men’s Basketball
• Paragould, Feb. 11 — Beginning a stretch where they alternate home and road games for the final four games of the season, #20 CBC took on the Crowley’s Ridge College (CRC) Pioneers in an American Midwest Conference (AMC) tilt inside the Carter Activities Center. CBC (21-4, 14-1 AMC) took the lead early, jumping out to a 17-4 advantage before securing an 80-68 victory over CRC (15-10, 9-6 AMC). Sage Borbon led the way in scoring with 23 points, shooting 11-of-18 from the field. Gabe Johnson snatched a season-high eight rebounds, while Borbon led the way with five assists. CBC’s defense proved crucial, limiting CRC to 38% shooting from the floor and just 20% from three-point range.
• Conway, Feb. 14 — Looking to complete a season sweep against an in-state rival, #18 CBC hosted the WBU Eagles in an AMC clash on Senior Night inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (22-4, 15-1 AMC) never trailed, leading by as much as 55 in a 102-58 win over WBU (4-18, 1-15 AMC). Four players finished in double figures scoring, led by Brian Alexander, who scored 20 of his 24 points in the first half and shot 10-11 from the field, including 4-4 from three-point range. Sage Borbon added 18 points, Jarvis Leigh contributed 13 and Devin Foster chipped in with 10 points. Before the game, Borbon, Leigh, Foster, Gabe Johnson, Daquarius Harris — who led with nine rebounds — Tommie Williams and Jyre McCloud were honored. CBC shot 50.7% from the field, made 16 three-pointers and outrebounded Williams Baptist 52-29 in the rout.
• Hannibal, Mo., Feb. 15 — Playing on the road for the final time in the regular season, #18 CBC took on the Trojans of HLGU with a chance to clinch at least a top two seed in the AMC tournament. #18 CBC (23-4, 16-1 AMC) took care of business, leading wire-to-wire in a 75-61 win over HLGU (11-12, 8-8 AMC). Sage Borbon led the way with 22 points while Jonas Carlisle added 13, Brian Alexander scored 12 off the bench and Gabe Johnson added 10. The Mustangs held the Trojans to just four-of-16 from three and outrebounded them 39-32 while capitalizing on points in the paint, winning that category 34-20.
• St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 17 — For the first time this season, CBC has the AMC defensive player of the week. Jonas Carlisle, who was the offensive player of the week in week one, earned defensive recognition this time. Carlisle helped lead #18 CBC to three wins on the week, setting a new pre-AMC Tournament wins record with 23. He averaged 5.5 rebounds, 6 blocked shots and a couple of steals while scoring an average of 10.7 points per game.
Track & Field
• Elsah, Ill., Feb. 15 — For the first time since 2023, CBC competed in the AMC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Josh Brown finished second in his only event, the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 9.04 seconds. Kortney Embry also competed in the final, finishing in sixth place with a time of 9.34 seconds. Solomon Barnes took third in the triple jump, recording a distance of 13.07 meters and later ran the 200 meters in 24.32 seconds. Evan East was slightly faster in the 200, his sole event, recording a time of 24.05 seconds. Makenzie Milligan ran the 800 meters and finished with a time of 3:05.09.
Softball
• Texarkana, Texas, Feb. 13 — Playing their first true road doubleheader of the season, CBC took on the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana (TAMUT) at Hooks High School. CBC (2-8) lost both ends of the doubleheader to TAMUT (7-3), falling 10-2 in game one and 12-0 in game two.
• Fort Worth, Texas, Feb. 14 — Looking to snap a recent slide, CBC was at Sycamore Park for a doubleheader against the Rams of Texas Wesleyan University (TWU). CBC (3-9) split the day, dropping game one to TWU (1-5) 9-2 before winning game two 13-1 in five innings.
Baseball
• Benton, Feb. 14 — With weather wreaking havoc on the schedule, CBC hosted the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks (C of O) in a matinee at Everett Field. CBC (1-8) dropped both ends of the doubleheader to C of O (5-3), losing game one 5-1 before falling 6-4 in extras in game two.
• Hot Springs, Feb. 17 — Playing a game originally scheduled as a doubleheader for Feb. 18, CBC took on the Champion Christian College Tigers in a nine-inning affair at Majestic Park. CBC (2-8) scored runs in the third, sixth, seventh and eighth innings to beat Champion (1-7) 7-3.
