Stan Hobson, 70, of Carthage, passed away Aug. 4. At the time of his death, he had been serving as pastor of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Fordyce for nearly nine years (since 2017). Before dedicating his life to preaching the gospel, he worked in forestry for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Leisa Wegner Hobson; a daughter, Brittany (Trevor) Castleberry; a sister, Deborah Axsom; two brothers, Wayne Hobson and Charlie Hobson; and two grandsons.
A graveside service was held on Aug. 7 at Shady Grove Cemetery in the Bleeker Community, with Everett Smith officiating. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce/Hampton (bentonfuneralhome.net).
