Mary Sue Hoffmann Shults, 87 of Pea Ridge, passed away Sept. 26. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Garfield and served faithfully as a children’s Sunday School teacher and in the nursery. In the 1970s, she served alongside her husband, former BMA missionary Louis “Lou” Shults, in Brazil. She also worked as a library assistant for Bentonville High School and Pea Ridge Elementary School.
Survivors include: sons, Ronald “Ron” (Kay) Shults of Pea Ridge (pastor of New Prospect, Garfield) and Glen (Leslie) Shults of Beebe (pastor of Garner, Garner); a daughter, Sherrie (Jamie) George of Bentonville; a sister, Minnie Gillam; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was held Oct. 6 at First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge, with her sons, Ron Shults and Glen Shults, officiating. Interment followed at Bayless Cemetery in Garfield, under the direction of Benton County Funeral Home (bentoncountyfuneralhome.com).
