CBC SPORTS: Softball Keeps Perfect Record in AMC Play

Baseball

         • Fulton, Mo., March 28 — Looking to try and keep pace in a very competitive American Midwest Conference (AMC), CBC played the first two games of a four-game series against the Owls of William Woods University (WWU) inside the Backer Sports Complex. CBC (20-13, 17-5 AMC) swept the day, pounding out 28 runs and 27 hits in wins over WWU by scores of 19-6 and 10-7.

      Head coach Dr. Aaron Brister reached his milestone 500th career victory with the win in game two, his 349th in charge of the Mustangs. Brayden Mayencourt also had a huge day with 8 hits and 11 RBIs in the doubleheader.

         • Fulton, Mo., March 29 — Looking for another AMC series win, CBC was back at the Backer Sports Complex for another doubleheader with the WWU. CBC (20-15, 17-7 AMC) dropped both games, losing 3-0 in game one and 12-5 in game two to WWU (20-15, 13-11 AMC).

         • St. Louis, Mo., March 31 — For the second time this season, Brayden Mayencourt was selected as the AMC baseball player of the week. He led CBC to a split this weekend at WWU. In four games, he batted .563 (9-16) with three runs scored, two home runs and 12 runs batted in. Most of the damage happened on Friday when he went 8-9 with both home runs and 11 RBIs in a doubleheader sweep, including a 4-4 with seven RBIs performance in the second game on Friday.

Softball

         • Conway, March 29 — Looking to stay perfect in the AMC, CBC hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State (HSSU) for a doubleheader at City of Colleges Park. CBC (19-15, 8-0 AMC) took care of business, sweeping HSSU (1-23, 0-10 AMC) 11-0 and 13-0 in five innings both times.

         • Conway, March 28 — Looking to stay perfect in both AMC play and at home this season, CBC hosted the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) in St. Louis in a doubleheader at City of Colleges Park. CBC (17-15, 6-0 AMC) fought through an hour weather delay in game one to down UHSP (7-15, 2-6 AMC) 7-1 and 11-0 in five innings.

Men’s Basketball

         • Kansas City, Mo., March 31 — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released their men’s basketball All-Americans, and for the ninth time in program history, CBC has a selection. Sage Borbon joined an exclusive class of players to be named All-American. Borbon joins Da’Jon Streeter, Percell Washington, Tyrone Alston, Darius Williams, Kelvin Robinson (twice), Tedrick Wolfe and Deshawn Corprew as All-Americans.

      Borbon was named to the third team after averaging 18.1 points per game this season on 45% shooting from the field, 34% from three and 77% from the free throw line to go with 3.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game while helping lead CBC to a 27-6 overall record, a regular season co-championship in the AMC, a trip to the NAIA First & Second Round in Langston, Okla., and the best winning percentage in program history (.818).
