CBC SPORTS: Lady Mustangs 4 Seed NAIA Tourney

Men’s Golf

      • Melbourne, May 6 — Entering the final round in third place, CBC was on the course at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Club for the concluding 18 holes of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship. CBC shot a final round 314 for a total of 918 to finish in fourth place, three shots behind the third-place finishers. Individually, Jakub Slapal shot a final round 74 to finish in fifth place with a 218, earning second team all-conference honors. Preston Nesterenko followed, closing with an 82 for a total of 233. Cooper Hermann, named the Newcomer of the Year, finished with an 80, totaling 237, followed by Jack Higginbotham, who also shot an 80 for a total of 239. Paul Gomez also shot a final round of 80, finishing with a total of 246.

Softball

      • Kansas City, Mo., May 7 — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 48-team field for the 2025 NAIA Softball Championship on their YouTube channel. CBC, who earned the second automatic bid out of the AMC, was among the 48 teams selected. The Mustangs return to the opening round for the first time since they played in Hattiesburg, Miss., in 2021.

      • San Antonio, Texas, May 12 — Playing their first game in the NAIA Opening Round in almost four years, CBC opened tournament play as the #5 seed, taking on the #4 seed Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott at St. Mary’s Softball Stadium. CBC (31-26) fell to ERAU (28-11) 2-1 in a pitcher’s duel.
