Petition Process for BMA Membership

By Charles Johnson, President • BMA of America

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! In recent years, the BMA of America has found it necessary to change our process of accepting new churches into our associational fellowship. While we want to include all local assemblies of like faith and order who desire membership, we also want to ensure new prospects fully agree with us both doctrinally and in principles of operation.

Churches who are interested in BMA of America membership are required to fill out a petitionary form, which may be found at bmaamerica.org/partner-with-us. Submission of this form will go to BMA of America Recording Secretary Randy Shepherd, who may be contacted at sslbc@aol.com. Deadline for submission is January 31 preceding the national meeting in April.

After the form is submitted, the prospective church will be contacted by a national officer (president and/or vice-president) for vetting purposes and explanation of the required steps for joining. These steps include formal adoption of agreement with the BMA Doctrinal Statement (bmaamerica.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/BMAADoctrinalStatement.pdf) and Principles of Cooperation (bmaamerica.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/BMAPrinciplesOfCooperation042024.pdf), which may be found on the BMA of America website (bmaamerica.org).

If any potential church has other questions, you may contact me at (903) 790-1691 or at cj1972@etex.net.
