I recently had the opportunity to participate in training for those involved in leading and supporting ministry efforts. One of the strongest themes was simple, but important — small things often make a big difference.
Most challenges don’t begin as major problems. They begin in small moments — moments that require attentiveness, wisdom, and sound judgment. The training emphasized that consistent awareness, calm decision-making, and faithfulness in small responsibilities can help strengthen people, deepen teamwork, and support the overall mission.
That same principle extends far beyond the training setting and reflects how growth — both personally and spiritually — actually takes place. Small, daily choices often shape much larger outcomes over time — in leadership and in our walk with the Lord.
The same is true in the life of our churches.
Many of the connections we share across our association don’t begin with large events or major decisions, but with small things — a brief report is read, a missionary update noticed, a story of faithfulness shared.
At first, those moments may seem small. But over time, they begin to shape something much larger — what we notice, what we care about, what we pray for, and often how we respond.
Without those small, consistent reminders, something important begins to fade. We may still believe in the mission and care about the work, but we begin to lose sight of how God is actively working through His people — and our connection begins to weaken.
But when those small moments are consistently present, something changes — we see more clearly, pray more specifically, and are encouraged more deeply, and over time that connection grows stronger.
As we continue focusing on Special Emphasis 2026, I’ve been reminded that this ministry often works in those same small ways — helping inform, inspire, and involve our churches in what God is doing.
When those small moments are faithfully stewarded, something greater begins to take shape — connection grows, and commitment often follows.
A Word of Thanks and Encouragement
Pastors, thank you for the many ways you faithfully serve your churches and invest in your people. I am grateful for the ways many of you have already strengthened this effort — whether by sharing the Baptist Trumpet video, highlighting Special Emphasis, or leading your churches to participate through giving.
More often than we realize, it is those simple, consistent efforts that make the most lasting difference.
If you have an opportunity to share, I would be grateful. Resources are available at BaptistTrumpet.com/SE2026. Please continue to pray that God will use this ministry to strengthen the connection between our churches and the mission we share.
