BMA SEMINARY: BMATS Seeks Applicants for President

      After 25 years of faithful service as the president of the BMA Theological Seminary (BMATS) in Jacksonville, Texas, Dr. Charley Holmes is retiring from that role effective at the conclusion of the Spring Commencement on May 11. The Search Committee of the BMATS Board of Trustees has begun the process of seeking the next individual to lead our beloved seminary.

      The president is the chief executive officer under the Board of Trustees and is charged with putting into effect its policies and regulations, keeping the trustees informed and appraised of the status of the seminary and its program, participating in trustee and committee meetings and keeping the Board advised of the fiscal status of the seminary. The president is also tasked with general administration of the seminary, including the responsibility for developing and maintaining services and programs necessary to operate the seminary, coordinating internal management for efficiency, quality control, and accountability, as well as acting as chief personnel administrator.

Qualifications

      • The next president of BMATS should demonstrate a strong dedication to biblical and doctrinal fidelity in alignment with the Baptist Missionary Association of America Statement of Faith and historical Associational Baptist ecclesiology.

      • Upon assuming the duties of the office, the president must be a member of a church affiliated with Baptist Missionary Association of America.

      • The applicant must have spiritual characteristics and sufficient knowledge of Christian education to be able to relate effectively to faculty and students, the churches and pastors of the BMAA, as well as governmental and other educational entities.
