CBC SPORTS UPDATE: March 8, 2022

Basketball

• Columbia, Mo., Feb. 28 — Playing in their fourth American Midwest Conference (AMC) tournament final, CBC, the #3 seed, took on the #1 seeded Cougars of Columbia College (CC) at the Arena at Southwell Complex. CBC (21-10) started slow, fought back in the second half but came up just short, losing to CC (23-8) 62-53. Jalen Adams led the Mustangs in scoring with 12 points, while Brevin Brimble and TaJuan Johnson both added 10.

Softball

• Gulf Shores, Ala., March 3 — Returning to the field for the first time in eight days, CBC was at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex for the first three games of the Gulf Coast Invitational. CBC (7-11) won two out of their three games, beating Texas A&M-San Antonio and Faulkner in the bookend games, sandwiched between a close loss to Baker.

• Gulf Shores, Ala., March 4 — After going 2-1 on day one of the Gulf Coast Invitational, CBC was back at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex for two more games. CBC (8-12) split on the final day, beating LSU-Alexandria in game one before falling to Saint Xavier in game two.

Wrestling

• Wichita, Kan., March 3 — Following his victory in the AMC/Sooner Athletic Conference Championship two weeks ago, Darron Harvey wrestled in the NAIA National Championship in the heavyweight class. Harvey, who gave CBC a wrestler at nationals for the third straight year, lost two tough matches to eliminate him on the first day of competition.

Baseball

• Ozark, Mo., March 4 — With weather playing a factor in scheduling again, CBC traveled to take on the Patriots of Baptist Bible College (BBC) in a doubleheader. CBC (5-10) dropped both ends of the doubleheader to BBC (9-7).
