BPH Launches New Children’s Curriculum

By Jordan M. Tew, Executive Director • Baptist Publishing House

DiscipleKidz is here! This new and highly anticipated children’s curriculum has been nearly three years in the making. Book 1 provides an overview of the entire Old Testament.

DiscipleKidz is unlike anything else you will find. It is unique in that we designed DiscipleKidz to fit the needs of every church, regardless of size or budget. DiscipleKidz is built to thrive in churches that are often overlooked. We wrote this for the rural church, the church without internet, the church without a big budget or many volunteers and we wrote it to be used on the mission field. All lessons have been written by members of BMA churches, who affirm our Doctrinal Statement.

The goals for DiscipleKidz are simple — proclaim the gospel to children, teach them the Bible is a true story and form them into disciples of Jesus. These goals are met by providing clear and Gospel-focused Bible lessons. Here are some things that make DiscipleKidz unique:

• Only one book — This book is designed to be used for all children, grades 1-6. This means you do not have to order different books for different grades. Every teacher will be able to tailor their lesson to the individual needs of their class. Yes, you can use just this one book for your entire children’s ministry if you like!

• Small church focused — We understand most churches only have one or two children’s classes, with mixed ages and grades. This book was written specifically with those churches in mind.

• Affordable — Besides only needing one book per class, all of our activities are designed to use everyday supplies (such as paper, crayons, play dough, balloons, etc.) that are cost-effective and readily available. We want to provide a curriculum that fits any budget and can be used anywhere in the world!

• Simple — There is no need for visual packs, student books, craft kits, take-home cards, etc. Simply tear the lesson sheet out each week and teach it! Also, each book will last you an entire year! No need to worry about ordering too many or too few books or ordering children’s materials each quarter!

• Teacher-friendly — Most children’s curriculum provides lessons that are difficult to prepare and teach. Teachers often feel overwhelmed by the demands of the curriculum. Our curriculum is teacher-friendly, as we essentially provide a lesson script to follow each week that gives the teacher the freedom to make each lesson their own.

• Flexible — This curriculum can be used for Sunday School, Children’s Church, Sunday nights, Wednesday nights, VBS Bible lessons, as a supplement to various auxiliaries or clubs and any other way you can imagine!

In every DiscipleKidz lesson you will find:

• Bible Reading: Every lesson includes the reading of God’s Word.

• Truth to believe: This is the doctrinal point, the main point of each lesson.

• Lesson: We provide teachers with a lesson script/commentary to make their job simpler.

• Class Discussion: This gives teachers an opportunity to help students think critically about what the Bible says and have a conversation about the Bible.

• Activities: It is okay to have fun while learning God’s Word! We provide a simple activity and an alternate for each lesson.

• Bible memory: Each lesson features a memory verse.

• Prayer time: Every lesson ends with a prayer prompt in response to the Bible passage being studied.

Frequently Asked Questions

• How many books will I need to order? You will only need to order one book per children’s class. Everything you need is in the book.

• Are there any other books available? Book 2 will release next year and will cover the Gospels and Acts. Book 3 will be released the following year and cover the remainder of the New Testament and Baptist Doctrine. The end result will be a three-year cycle that covers the entire Bible and Baptist doctrine.

• How often will this book be available to order? All DiscipleKidz books will be available year-round. Order what you need, when you need it.

• Are you getting rid of the current children’s curriculum? No. Disciple Kids Classic will continue to be offered as a quarterly Sunday School curriculum, as always.

Are there any other resources available? Yes! We are providing accompanying coloring pages and take-home pages as free printable resources. These extra resources are not necessary, but they are available to anyone who would like them, free of charge.

I am so very excited to share this resource with you all. Imagine the impact proclaiming the gospel and teaching the Bible is a true story will have on our children! I hope and pray DiscipleKidz will be a blessing to your church and your children.
