CBC PROFILE: Board of Trustees Meeting Highlights

The CBC Board of Trustees met Friday and Saturday, June 2-3. The three standing committees of the board (academic, advancement and finance) met on Friday evening to conduct business and hear recommendations from the CBC Executive Leadership Team.

The full board convened Saturday morning. All members of the Executive Leadership Team and the Faculty Council Moderator gave a report relative to his/her areas of responsibility. Each committee secretary gave a report of his/her respective committee meeting, and the board appointed a nominating committee for 2024 Board officers. The following are some highlights of the board meeting:

• Approved a policy revision for the Employee Handbook recommended by the Academic Committee: Outstanding Faculty Award Policy;

• Approved the following as recommended by the Advancement Committee:

2023-2024 Traditional Student Handbook,

2023-2024 PACE and Online Studies Student Handbook,

2023-2024 Student Athlete Handbook,

2023-2024 Guidelines for Facilities Use (External) and

2023-2024 College Facilities and Events Policy (Internal),

Heard an update on the proposed new baseball field and

Heard an update on fall student housing.

• Approved the following as recommended by the Finance Committee:

Heard an update on fall enrollment,

Proposed Tuition & Fees for 2023-2024,

Projected Year-End Financials and

Proposed Current Fund Budget for 2023-2024.

The full board unanimously approved the recommendation from the president to launch a scholarship program to be known as the “BMA Promise.” (See article on page 1 of this issue of the Baptist Trumpet.)

The board also heard the details of a new sustainable giving program — “Legacy Leaders.” Details will be shared in next week’s Baptist Trumpet.
