SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS: Doug & Diane Lee • Philippines

We were honored to have a visit from BMAA Missions Executive Director Dr. John David Smith for the BMA of the Philippines (BMAP) Missions Conference in Mindanao. While visiting the Philippines, the BMA of the Philippines Bible College (BMABC), hosted a lunch for all the pastors on Negros Occidental, who would not be going to Mindanao for the national conference and association meeting. There were over 100 pastors and visitors that enjoyed the fellowship with our American counterparts.

Joining Dr. Smith for this conference were Asian Pacific Coordinator Dr. Stan Scroggins, former Missionary to the Philippines Jimmy Walker and Grant Garlington.

We did a “thing” we would not have done when we were teenagers. When Pastor Albert Ramos, one of our BMABC Alumni, invited us to come to their church anniversary in Lublub, we were told the only way to get there was on motorbikes. Yes! Doug and I rode motorcycles through the mountains to be there. It was a wild, scary, fun 45-minute ride, but worth it. When we arrived, there was an overflow crowd and sweet hospitality from God’s wonderful people in this secluded area. Just call us “recycled teenagers” in our golden years. Many came forward making decisions for Christ! What a beautiful place to have a ministry. God is so good! We are anxiously waiting for our next trip and already have an invitation for next year.

There were 1,130 registered guests for BMAP Grand Thanksgiving Day on the college campus. It was a great spirit-filled day! The BMABC Choir, under the direction of BMABC President Dr. Doug Lee performed for those in attendance.

Updating the library at BMABC has finally become a reality. Thanks to the an anonymous donor, the project has begun with the installation of the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) in our library and student orientation for Koha Library Software. We also replaced the old jalousie (louvered glass) windows with solid tinted windows. The old ones were broken and couldn’t be repaired, and moisture and humidity were beginning to ruin the books. The last thing we will do is paint and hope enough funds left for aircon (air conditioning). (Our librarian, Ivy Carpiano, received her BA Degree in Library Science. We are proud of her.)

Money for work funds, personal support, BMABC, Scholarship funds, DCCA and special projects can be sent to Mill Creek Baptist Church, 11 Old Kiln Road, Picayune, Miss. 39466 or BMAA Global Missions, P.O. Box 878, Conway, Ark. 72033. Please note on your check which project it is to be used for. Donations are tax deductible.
