Southwest District GMA Meets

By Lilli Medline, Recording & Corresponding Secretary • Southwest GMA

On June 12, the Southwest District GMA girls met with the Southwest District WMA ladies at a joint meeting at First Baptist Church in Emerson. The GMA attendance was 15, representing 5 churches. The GMA theme for this meeting was “Oh the Life You Will Live, with God!” The theme verse was John 10:10.

Pat Roden played the piano as WMA President Valarie Fish led the group in singing, “He keeps me singing,” “I’ve got joy down in my heart,” and the WMA song.

Everyone around the room took turns introducing themselves and sharing where they were from. The WMA held its business meeting and discussed past and upcoming mission trips. Margaret Lindsey provided an update with a PowerPoint on the Morgan Grace project in Morgan, Utah. She encouraged everyone to keep praying for them as they let God work through them, helping their planted Baptist church grow in a state with a large LDS (Latter-Day Saints) population.

After the update, acting GMA President Maddie Medlin opened the GMA portion of the meeting by asking Jeana Medlin to lead in prayer. She then led the group in the GMA watchword, aim and allegiance. Kourtney Williams and Daisy Almand led the GMA song, accompanied by Pat Roden on the piano. Maddie Medlin introduced our theme and verses for the meeting and for the rest of the year. I gave a devotional about living abundantly and the true meaning of joy, using John 10:10.

Peggy Bland and several of the GMA girls then shared a program on how to have true joy, with the first step being salvation. Maddie Medlin opened the business portion of the meeting, and I read the minutes. The minutes were approved as read. Carol Yates read the treasurer’s report, and it was approved as read. Having no old or new business, Maddie Medlin adjourned the business meeting, and Dale Fish spoke to us about joy and a Christian’s aroma, using II Cor. 2:14-15, John 10:25 and Deuteronomy 32. He spoke to us about how our joy must be both internal and external to spread to others, and how to achieve true joy both inwardly and outwardly, and what that entails.
