Over the past several weeks, Vice President for Advancement Duffy Guyton and I have traversed the state for our “Together for the Future” pastors’ meetings. Because Central Baptist College is owned by the churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Arkansas, it was important to me that we meet as many BMA pastors as possible and share important updates about the work happening on campus.
“Together for the Future” meetings took place on the CBC campus and at the following churches: South City, Little Rock; Herman, Bono; First, Magnolia; Bethel #1, Rison; Calvary, Fayetteville; Central, Texarkana; and Central, Prescott. We are thankful to these churches and their pastors for hosting our meetings, providing coffee and snacks, and extending phenomenal hospitality.
Participation exceeded our expectations. Some pastors drove more than an hour to hear about the ministry of CBC. In all, 55 pastors and church leaders joined us from three states: Arkansas, Texas and Kansas.
Some of the news I shared was exciting, such as enrollment projections for the upcoming fall semester. (I look forward to sharing more about this soon!) But some of the news was difficult. CBC has been struggling financially for quite some time, and we humbly seek the renewed support of our BMA churches to help us regain financial stability. Since its inception in 1952, CBC has been an associational work. Our churches can survive without CBC, but CBC cannot survive without the prayers and financial support of our churches.
“Together for the Future” has always been about transparency, and I promised the pastors who attended that I would continue that transparency even after the events concluded. I intend to begin a monthly email update for the pastors of the BMA. If you did not attend “Together for the Future” but would like to be included in these emails, please contact me at jlangley@cbc.edu. I will also be happy to provide the details discussed at our meetings with any pastor who was unable to attend.
Looking to the Future
As we trust the Lord to help us overcome financial hurdles, we see many bright spots on the horizon. Registration for the fall semester is underway, and our numbers continue to track significantly ahead of last year. One of the strongest indicators of fall enrollment is the number of housing applications. As of last week, we have received more applications than last fall, and campus housing is nearly full. Very limited space remains for students who wish to live on campus, but we will find accommodations for every student who wants to attend.
There is still time to apply and enroll for the fall semester at CBC. There may have never been a more important time to receive a conservative, Christian higher education. That is exactly what you’ll find at Central Baptist College. We want to help you earn your degree, strengthen your walk with Christ and stand firm in your values.
Our conservative Christian degree programs are not limited to traditional students. The CBC PACE Program offers the opportunity to earn an accredited degree online from anywhere in the country. PACE classes are just five weeks long, allowing students to focus on one course at a time. With eight enrollment opportunities each year, it’s never too late to apply. We would love to help you grow closer to Christ and achieve your educational goals.
