One Family’s Journey to Faith

By Bryan Clay, Missionary • Faith Journey, Benton

One Sunday evening before service at Faith Journey, an interview was being held at The Cabin 3H. The guest speaker was a woman whose story carried the weight of both tragedy and resilience — her husband, a fallen soldier in the Iraq War, had paid the ultimate price in service to his country. The interview focused on his mission and the path she and her family had walked since that heartbreaking loss.

After the interview concluded, our worship leader saw an opportunity to have a conversation with her. During their visit, something unexpected was revealed — she did not have a church home. Without hesitation, he extended an invitation to join us at Faith Journey.

We were excited when she accepted and came the very next week.

From the moment she stepped through our doors, there was an immediate connection. In the weeks that followed, she became a faithful part of our Sunday gatherings. She was open to seeing what God might be doing in her life.

After several weeks of attending, she shared something deeply personal. She had always known about Christ but had never made the decision to accept Him as her Savior. It was a powerful moment of salvation that filled the room with tears, joy and the unmistakable presence of the Holy Spirit.

Shortly after, she followed her commitment with believer’s baptism. That powerful night of worship and testimony happened to fall on Mother’s Day — what a beautiful and fitting celebration of new beginnings.

But the story didn’t stop there.

She had begun bringing her young granddaughter to church with her and we learned that the granddaughter needed her own children’s Bible, so we provided her one that her grandmother began to read to her, as well as spending time praying together nightly. Then, just a few weeks later, her daughter began attending as well. In a matter of months, we witnessed God move through three generations of one family — changing hearts, restoring hope and building a legacy of faith.

At Faith Journey, we believe that every story matters. What began as an interview ended in a testimony. What started as one woman’s story of loss became a story of redemption and new life, not just for her, but for her family. God’s faithfulness has been binding their hearts together in love, healing and hope.
