CBC PROFILE: Board of Trustees Meeting Highlights

The CBC Board of Trustees met on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15. The three standing committees of the Board (Academic, Advancement and Finance) met on Friday evening to conduct business and hear recommendations from the college administrators.

The full board convened on Saturday morning. Board Chair Jim Fink opened the meeting with Scripture reading and prayer. All members of the Executive Leadership Team and the Faculty Council moderator gave reports relative to his/her area of responsibility. Then each committee secretary gave a report of his/her respective committee meeting to the full board. The following are some highlights of the Board meeting:

• Faculty presented departmental assessment reports during the Academic Committee meeting;

• Reaffirmed the existing CBC Mission Statement;

• Heard a report from the faculty council moderator;

• Heard a report on annual giving;

• Heard an update on the Scholarship Gala 2023;

• Heard an update on the ransomware attack;

• Heard an update on the search for a new baseball field location;

• The auditor report was presented during the Finance Committee Meeting;

• Approved the July-August 2022 Operating Results;

• Approved the 2023 Ministers Housing Allowances;

• Heard an Enrollment Report from the Director of Admissions;

• Approved the Nominating Committee’s recommendations for 2023 board officers as follows: Chair Jim Fink, Vice Chair Kirk Shelton, Secretary Kellie Harper and Assistant Secretary Lisa Speer;

• Approved the election of Terry Kimbrow as President in Executive Session; and

• Recognized the outgoing board members whose terms are ending this year;

Outgoing Board of Trustee Members Recognized

I would like to thank our four outgoing Board of Trustee members — Zane Clark, Michele Corder, Clif Johnson and Bobby Stoner — for their service to Central Baptist College. These men and women served as trustees from 2018-2022, and I cannot thank them enough.

Preview Days Planned

Central Baptist College has set our Stampede Open House schedule for 2022-2023. We have two upcoming dates for prospective students to personally experience campus life: Friday, Nov. 11 and Wednesday, Nov. 30.

At an Open House, you can visit current students, meet faculty members in the degree areas in which you are interested, learn about different student organizations and take a guided campus tour. You may also win one of several CBC door prizes.
