MASTER’S BUILDERS: Help a Brother and Sister Out

By Rose Bittner, Reporter

A small group of Master’s Builders were blessed to be able to work in Biscoe, Arkansas last November at First Assembly of God in Biscoe, Ark. This is the home church of our newest Master’s Builders members, Billy and Dawanna Keys. Billy and Dawanna joined the Master’s Builders after working with the Nail Benders group for many years. The Nail Benders were also a group of volunteers dedicated to helping churches with building needs. When the Nail Benders needed to disband their group, the Master’s Builders were blessed to have Billy and Dawanna join!

Their church has had floor problems for many years. The sub-floor was rotting in the classroom and office areas and was desperately needing to be repaired. Sagging flooring, and cracks that pulled the floor away from the wall, allowed air and moisture to come in.

The Master’s Builders were happy to be able to come out and work on First Assembly during the month of November when they are usually off for winter break. God blessed the group with good weather and a very productive time. The Builders were able to tear out all the old floors and replace all the support beams and install flooring in four rooms and a restroom. The baptistery needed some extra support, so the Builders were able to do that while they had all the flooring pulled up. It was a “treasure hunt” of sorts in the dirt below the building as the Builders found several old buttons, coins and nails as they crawled around!

Several members of the church were on hand each day to help and fellowship with The Master’s Builders. Donald Whitcomb and Kent Smith were there each day to help, and Pastor Thomas Whittaker came to help when he could. Billy Keys worked hard each day, as well as making sure the Master’s Builders had all the needed supplies.

Also, a special “thank you” to Charlie Simpson Construction in Biscoe for being on hand to help with this project and lend some advice. The ladies cooked delicious meals and showed much love to the Master’s Builders in many ways during their time there. Their kindness will be remembered always. The Master’s Builders were so pleased to help one of their own members’ churches with their repair needs. God is good!
