STATE MISSIONS: Back on the Firing Line

Last Thursday, the Missionary Committee voted to hire Michael Hight to serve as a full-time missionary in the area of Cabot and Jacksonville. He will be starting immediately. Please pray for Michael and Jenifer as they begin this new and exciting ministry. Again, a special thanks to those who came from as far as Rogers, Greenwood, Mountain Home, Texarkana, Magnolia and parts in between to support Michael and State Missions.

Quick Overview

Currently, it appears that all your missionaries are experiencing some degree of success, even in the hard times in which we live. Families are being ministered to both spiritually and physically, and your missionaries are experiencing conversions and baptisms at an increased rate. While we obviously cannot make a difference to all, praise the Lord we are making a difference to some. Pray for these families and their ministries that God will be uplifted and glorified through your State Missions work.

From Our Missionaries

Hispanic Mission, Jacksonville/Cabot Area: Michael Hight writes, “Thank you so much for electing me to go to the Jacksonville/Cabot area. Jenifer and I are so excited about this new mission work. Pray for us as we get settled in and begin building relationships. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for His kingdom work.

“Our new address is 46 Meadowlark Dr., Cabot Ark. 72023. Let us know if you have any Hispanic contacts in the area! God bless!”

Misión Creciendo en Cristo (Growing in Christ), North Little Rock: Juan Carlos Posadas writes, “Within the framework of the celebration of the independence festivities of Central America and Mexico, each family did their best to wear clothes representative of their countries of origin and share their customs, dishes of food, songs, etc. this Sunday. We had a cultural party, studied the Word, worshiped our Lord and had a lot of fun bursting piñatas, from the little ones to the adults.

“It was a very educational time of communion, as we had representatives from Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. Each country and its singularities were exposed. In the middle of the program, we prayed for the countries represented, especially for the local churches in each city.

“We thank God for these times of communion and fun that we can share with the brothers of the church. The program began at 11 in the morning and the last families left the temple at 4 p.m. All were excited and happy for having shared a good time.”

Ebenezer, West Little Rock: Ruben Isturiz writes, “During the week my health was not 100% as allergies did their work, but I thank God that His work in Ebenezer and the ministry did not stop.

“I was with the Arkansas Travelers players Monday night to eat and share together. We are closing the season, and it was a good time to be thankful to God. I am closing my 11th season serving as chaplain.

“On Tuesday, I gave my class at the Hispanic Missionary Theological Institute of Arkansas as I continue giving my class on ‘Spiritual Life.’ I have nine students and, thank God, we are doing well in the semester.

“Because of my health, I suspended the two home groups that I teach during the week so I could recover and be well for the weekend. Thank God, on Saturday I was much better, and I was able to help a sister in Christ with her new podcast. In the evening, we had a meeting with the group from Venezuela, celebrating the independence of Central America and Mexico. These are God’s opportunities to connect with new people. From these meetings, I met Vanessa, a Venezuelan who is starting a business selling clothes. She was surprised that I was a missionary and asked me to be praying for her and for the inauguration of her business.

Faith Chapel, Flippin: Johnny Shew writes, “What a wonderful week we had at Faith Chapel! We had several families out, but we still had a good number and a great time of worship.

“Thank you, brothers and sisters, more than ever I have felt your prayers this week, with my health and also ministry opportunities. To God be the glory!”

“A family that has been attending for several months now made the decision to join us on Sunday morning, and we are so glad to add them to our body. They have three precious boys, and our youth ranks are also growing. I will add them to our Trumpet Church Plan this morning! All of our members say how much they enjoy the newspaper and reading about our association every week.

“The building is still progressing, and we are making good progress on the HVAC system. Two out of three of the air handlers are set, and we are installing the ductwork and insulation. It is coming along nicely.

“We again want to thank you for your prayers and support. Please continue, the Lord is answering them and we are so thankful to Him for letting us do this, and to you for supporting us.”

Faith Journey, Benton: Bryan Clay writes, “We enjoyed a great service this week at the mission. We wanted to share with you what an important role the Baptist Trumpet plays in the ministry to their readers. On Friday evening, we received a call from a sweet lady who is an avid reader of the Baptist Trumpet. She shared with us that she often reads it cover to cover.

Because this paper is an excellent resource for our BMA Missions, this follower was able to reach out to get involved with a mission in her area. We made arrangements to come by and help her to visit Faith Journey this week. It was a blessing to have her join us, and we hope we can be a light for her in the future within our ministry. Thank you, to all the people who make the Baptist Trumpet available to its readers every week. God is using you in a mighty way!

“We are still involved within our community with our weekly Bible studies at several nursing facilities and an adult daycare center. We are able to share the Word of God with these older adults that are attending, as well as the employees. God is working in these places, and the gospel is being spread. We have received feedback from the employees about what a blessing it has been for Faith Journey to be involved with their residents and staff. Pray that we will be able to continue to find more opportunities to share Christ’s love with them.”

Misión Gracia Soberana (Sovereign Grace), NWA: Roberto Marcelletti writes, “We are very excited to report that we were able to finish level 1 discipleship in Springdale and level 2 in Pea Ridge this week. There were six brothers who received certificates for finishing each level.

It is beautiful to hear, every week, the testimonies of the changes my beloved brothers experience when applying the biblical principles. They are learning in discipleship.

“We had a beautiful time of worship together in our service. We began by thanking God for His son, Jesus Christ, because it is our greatest riches and hope, then we began an expository series on the book of John, giving an introduction. We ask for your prayers about this day that we have ahead to study the whole book of John, verse by verse.”

Epic Life, Pea Ridge: Jake McCandless writes, “We have new families come every week, and it is incredible. We had a new family come to a special event we held this week and a friend of one of the kids joined us for Bible study. It was awesome to see kids reaching out!

“I shared this last week, but I wanted to share it again — please consider joining us! As I have researched missionaries around the world who have utilized Multiplication Movements like we are using, the common factor in the places where there has been a true move of God was where there was a strong prayer movement first. Amanda and I have come to realize our efforts are not enough, but since we need to be the boots on the ground in the field, we can’t be the chief prayer warriors. This conclusion led us to reach out to our friends, Kevin and Jenna, in Ohio to lead a prayer network. Amazingly, God had already given them a vision for such a ministry. They will begin a weekly Zoom prayer meeting on our behalf starting Sept. 19. We would love for you to join this Prayer Collective. Even if you can’t make the Zoom calls, we’d love for you to join the group so you can pray and get updates through email. You can join by scanning the QR code (below) or go to tiny.cc/EpicPrayer.”
