HEALTHY CHURCH: Developing, Multiplying Followers & Leaders

Leadership development is the natural outflow of your discipleship pathway. It has been referred to as a leadership pipeline, but we must be careful to make sure this is a mobilizing of leaders to the mission of Jesus first and foremost. It is more than raising up workers for the Sunday experience and the ministry teams in your church. The goal is not completion or reaching a goal, but living missionally by multiplying disciples, multiplying leaders and multiplying churches. Lead yourself, then begin to lead others, but do not forget it must start with your relationship with Jesus as He builds godly character within you.

First, you must be motivated by the mission of God. BMA Global defines this specifically as “making God’s glory and love known to the nations. This aspect of the nature of God is expressed in the expansion of the kingdom to all peoples and is the primary motivational piece in all we do.” This requires living your life as if the Truth is the truth by training disciples and leaders to own the priorities of our founder, Jesus Christ. Will your church and ministry resemble the church in the book of Acts? Will you exist for yourselves and your services, or will you exist to fulfill your King’s mission? Have we made the focus too much about us?

Who is going to reach those who do not even have Jesus on their radar? Who will be willing to stop focusing on scooping up the already church attending market-share and intentionally build relationships with those who are far from God? The need to raise up leaders is real, but they need to be trained and challenged to daily live on the mission of Jesus in order to seek and to save that which is lost by equipping disciples and leaders to be Jesus and share the gospel in their everyday work world. Have we become so enamored with the 99 in the sheep fold that we have forgotten about the 1 lost sheep?

Getting back to His mission is a must and requires moving past our own comfort, self-interest and pet projects. If Jesus truly is our Boss, we must be about His business and that is beginning a movement that obeys Him in every area, not a select few. It is easy to be deceived into thinking it is “our” church, but if it is, then it is not “His” church. Has your church become more of a business than an army attacking the gates of Hell by living radically for Him? If you and I are not careful, we begin to build our kingdom instead of His. The reality is that if your motivation and goal is to build our kingdom, it will require killing His.

BMA Global’s second value statement is: “The entire context of the New Testament is one of multiplication. All healthy believers and churches will multiply. The multiplication of disciples is the most important factor in the formula for multiplication.” If the discipleship pathway is broken, rest assured the leadership pipeline will most likely be non-existent. Developing leaders who are following Jesus requires that you are following Him and obeying Him. Are you learning reproducible skills through discipleship that can be passed on to the next generations? Discipleship is teaching disciples how to grow their faith and follow Jesus.

Do you have a reproducible way (discipleship engine) to teach others how to study their Bible (SOAP; Discovery Bible Study, etc.), pray (PRAY, ACTS, etc.), share their faith (Evangelism in 1 Verse, Good Soil, etc.), the importance of worship individually and corporately and how vital it is to be part of a church family? Teach them it is not “shopping” for the best church but being led by the Holy Spirit to be a functioning productive member of a local body of believers. Our concept of church being something you either “opt” in or “opt” out of is foreign to those who have been willing to die because of their connection with His church.

The first three values of BMA Global are: Motivated by the Mission of God, Discipleship Based Multiplication and Local-Church Driven, which states: “While multiplication is the process that fulfills the mission of God in the New Testament, local congregations are both the source (sending) and the goal (planting) of that multiplication. Missions’ offices do not reproduce, churches do.” Your church does not decide on its mission because God’s mission has called your church to faithfully fulfill His mission. Unfortunately, and all too often, our present structures stifle or even oppose His mission being accomplished by our church.

The discipleship pathway builds godly character and should lead naturally into a leadership pathway. The time should come when you move beyond basic discipleship and begin teaching leadership competencies such as team building, problem solving, managing time, resolving conflict, communication and executing God’s plan. The need to plan and develop a leadership pathway is crucial and it will take time and hard work. The old leadership axiom states, “Plan your work, then work your plan.” The nature of the beast is that working in the ministry is so time consuming there is little time left to work on the ministry.

What is your strategy for developing leaders in your church? How will you pour into the one or two who have shown that they are ready to take the next steps? Mac Lake encourages us to change our focus in this area. He stated the need to clearly understand your why, “We don’t start with the position that needs to be filled; we start with the person that can be developed. When helping other people maximize their God-given potential is our foundational motive, we are far more likely to succeed over the long haul… The big win is not filling a leadership position; it’s seeing the potential of his or her leadership giftedness.”

JUST THINKING: Worthy of Double Honor – Derry Dwayne Kidd

“The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching” (I Tim. 5:17 NIV).

I was just thinking about a man who has had a tremendous impact on the churches of the BMA of America — Jerry Kidd.

A south Arkansas couple, working a cottonfield near Hope, was expecting a child. As they worked, some strange and frightening pains overtook Mrs. Cecil Kidd. Right there in the field, she asked God to give her that child and she would give the child to the Lord. On May 20, 1939, she delivered Jerry Kidd. From caution to celebration the first of numerous changes would take place.

Jerry Kidd grew up attending Unity Baptist Church in Hope. It was at the age of 12 that he placed his trust in Christ. A few years later, he enrolled in Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University) in Magnolia. It was during his time there that he surrendered to God’s call to preach.

He met a lovely young lady from Magnolia, Sue Hudson, whom he married on Aug. 26, 1960. The couple, who adopted two children, Jason and Juli, will celebrate 63 years of marriage this summer. Sadly, their son, who was called Jay, passed away April 8, 2020.

Following the Lord’s leadership to further his education with spiritual training, Jerry enrolled at Central Baptist College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible. During that time, he also pastored churches in Tomberlin and Lonoke. He later pastored Eastside Baptist Church in Springhill, La. He loved preaching and teaching God’s Word, and His pleasant demeanor made him a much-loved pastor.

Change

The Holy Spirit began to tug at Kidd’s heart in a way that would lead him to the work of missions. Feeling that the Lord was leading them, Jerry and Sue would change from the pastorate to what was then called the ministry of Interstate Missions. For five years, they served with a mission church, Westwood Baptist of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

While Jerry was serving as an interstate missionary, the Holy Spirit planted in him a desire to become a pilot and provide assistance on the mission field in that aspect of service. He and Sue then moved to LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, where he received the training that would qualify and enable him to serve as a support pilot. While at LeTourneau, Jerry served the Ware Acres Baptist Church as pastor.

After finding that the BMAA would send no missionaries in 1972, Jerry applied again to serve the association in Bolivia in 1973 and was elected. In 1974, after a long and arduous travel, Jerry and Sue moved to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where they worked with the local church and Jerry flew support missions for fellow BMAA missionaries M.S. Arrington and Marvin Loyd.

More Change

After eight years serving in Bolivia, at the 1982 annual BMAA Meeting, another change came about. Bro. Kidd was elected assistant to the executive director of Missions. How fitting that his scope of service was foreign missions. There was still more change for this man with a heart for the lost souls around the globe as he became the director of International Missions.

A Pastor to Missionaries

Jerry Kidd has always been a minister of discipleship. His role in missions later changed to director of Missionary Care. He and Sue have always displayed love for those serving on the mission field. It was no surprise that he fit perfectly for the new endeavor. He has been blessed with a kind and gentle disposition, and his humility worked so well as he ministered to our missionaries.

Still More Change

I have had a love for Hispanic missions for decades, and Bro. Kidd and I have a kindred spirit in that regard. I admire him greatly, and one thing that amazes me is his ability to adapt to change. While still fulfilling his role with Missions, Jerry became pastor of Temple Baptist Church (now South City Church) in Little Rock in 2013. He served in that capacity for four years and his role again changed and today he serves on staff at South City Church as pastor of Missional Engagement.

The Dedication of One Who was Dedicated

Before he was born, Jerry’s mother, in a cottonfield, dedicated her soon-to-be-born child to the Lord. On Saturday, May 20, that Kidd from Hope will turn 84 years old. His life truly has been one of dedication, and Jerry Kidd is certainly a servant worthy of double honor.

2023 Arkansas Legislature Summary

0

By Larry Page, Executive Director • Arkansas Faith & Ethics Council

The official adjournment of the legislative session occurred on May 1, after nearly four months of deliberations. The following is a compilation of some of the key bills and proposals we had been concerned with, working on at some level or tracking. There were hundreds of other measures, but the ones we list in this summary are the major ones from our perspective and considering our agenda. For sake of brevity, we will give a basic description of each bill and indicate its outcome.

Abortion / Pro-Life

• House Bills 1301, 1670 and 1684 and House Joint Resolution 1008 — These were proposals to dramatically increase the number of abortions permitted in Arkansas by providing exceptions to our very strong pro-life laws. Existing law only permits an abortion to save the life of the mother in bona fide medical emergencies. These four measures would have allowed abortions for unborn children with so-called “abnormalities,” for alleged (but not necessarily proven) incest, to protect the health of the mother (which could include trivial conditions such as depression and anxiety) and for any purpose or no purpose at all (unrestricted abortion, in other words), effectively repealing the state’s Unborn Child Amendment. Fortunately, these four proposals never saw the light of day and went nowhere.

  • House Bill 1174 — This bill never made it out of committee. The reason it never gained any traction is because it would have allowed the prosecution of a woman or girl for obtaining an abortion to terminate her pregnancy. There was simply no desire on legislators’ parts to prosecute women and girls in those circumstances, especially when it is a known fact that many women are often coerced, threatened and intimidated by a husband, a boyfriend or even a father into submitting to the abortion.

• House Bill 1786 — This bill, now Act 848, confirms that an abortion can only be performed to save the life of the mother. It adds another requirement that an abortion can only be performed in a hospital or emergency room.

Alcohol and Other Drugs

• Senate Bill 411 and House Bill 1631 — These were identical bills. The intent was to dramatically increase the amount of alcohol allowed in beer. We strenuously opposed these bills, and with the help of many of you, we were successful in defeating them.

  • House Bill 1024 — The purpose of this bill was to make it easier to establish entertainment districts (designated areas of towns where outdoor public drinking is allowed). We strongly opposed this bill, as did many of you. Unfortunately, after we scored initial success, the bill made it through and is set to become law as Act 34.

• House Bill 1432 — This bill, which we tried to stop, passed and is now Act 540. It amends existing law and permits private clubs in wet counties to join restaurants in being allowed to deliver alcoholic beverages with food orders.

• House Bill 475 — This bill was approved and is now Act 705. It allows the dispensing of alcoholic beverages from vending machines. Supporters pointed to all kinds of safeguards to prevent alcohol from getting into the wrong hands, but it seems that kind of operation cannot be made failsafe.

Child Welfare

• House Bill 1028 — This good bill is now Act 21. It strengthens our laws against obscenity by replacing the term “child pornography” with “child sexual abuse material.”

• House Bill 1151 — This well-intentioned bill was deferred until the 2025 legislative session, so that it can be studied and improved. It would have increased the criminal penalties for sexually grooming a child.

• House Bill 1502 — This bill passed and is Act 722. It creates in the criminal offense of sexual solicitation of a minor.

• Senate Bill 270 — Now Act 619, this measure strengthens the law and enhances criminal penalties for a number of offenses for committing sexual indecency with a child. This includes an adult who, with the purpose of arousing or gratifying a sexual desire, enters into or remains in a restroom designated for the opposite sex when he or she knows a minor is present.

• Senate Bill 396 — Now Act 689, this law requires social media companies to verify that an account holder is an adult or that a minor seeking to be an account holder has been given permission by his or her parents.

• Senate Bill 43 — This bill is now law (Act 689), and prohibits adult-oriented performances of a sexual nature that include partial or total nudity or that presents specific sexual activity from being financed with public funds and from being performed in the presence of minors.

• Senate Bill 66 — This bill passed and is now Act 612. This law requires internet pornography companies to verify that persons trying to access their content are adults. There are penalties if they don’t use reasonable means to prevent minors from viewing the smut they offer.

• Senate Bill 81 — This bill was approved and is Act 372. The new law is intended to protect minors from harmful material distributed by libraries. It also establishes a process by which parents can challenge material libraries possess and possibly make available to minors.

Religious Liberty

• House Bill 1615l — This new law (Act 733) strengthens our state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act in several ways, including specifying the kinds of religious restrictions the government might attempt to impose that people of faith can successfully challenge and the procedures by which that could be accomplished.

Transgender Issue

• House Bill 1156 — This is now law (Act 317). It will protect students at public schools and public charter schools from having to share sex-specific spaces — such as locker rooms, shower rooms, restrooms and changing areas where stages of undress are common — with a member of the opposite biological sex. Accommodations, such as single-use facilities, may be provided for those declaring a different gender identity than the sexual identity given them at birth.

Master’s Builders Work in Flippin

0

By Nelda Malone, Reporter

The Master’s Builders began work at Faith Chapel Baptist Mission in Flippin on April 3. We were there to help with the building of the first building phase of this mission church, and we were all so excited to finally get to come and be a part of this work. BMA of Arkansas Missionary Johnny Shew, his wife, Karen and the Faith Chapel family have been praying, and preparing for this day for so long!

We began with a slab, and when we left the building was “in the dry.” We usually stay two weeks on a job, but with this church building most Builders were able to stay three weeks. The Builders constructed the exterior and interior walls of the 4,000-sq.-ft. main building, which will include the sanctuary, fellowship hall and bathrooms. Inside, the Builders built the stage, sound booth and baptistry, and also set in the windows and doors. During the third week, some of the siding went up on the outside of the building. A few delivery delays hindered getting more done.

Trusses, decking and roofing were done by Derek Goodall Construction of Yellville. This is a Christian family business, and they were a joy for the Master’s Builders to be around. They are certainly good at what they do!

We had 13 men from our Master’s Builders group and several men (and women) from Faith Chapel who worked alongside our men. I don’t want to leave anyone out by name, but you each know who you are. You were, and are, a blessing to us! We could not have accomplished what we did without you!

There are not enough words that can be written here to express our love and gratitude to the Faith Chapel family. They shared much love with us, worshiped with us, fed us, fellowshipped with us, sang with us and just became a part of our hearts! They are a special group and are now a part of the Master’s Builders family too! Special thanks to each one who played a part in caring for us while we worked there. This church family certainly will continue to shine a beautiful light in this community.

As I sit here thinking of the work there, I keep hearing Bro. Johnny’s encouraging words that he often yelled (several times a day), “You’re doing fine boys, keep it up!” And that’s what we wanted to do!

For this important ministry to continue, we need workers. The average age of our men is currently 75. Please join us in prayer for the Lord to please send us more workers. We want to be able to continue to serve the Lord in this ministry and work for the kingdom’s growth.

STAND FIRM: Heaven is Better Than We Can Imagine

I took a detour the past few weeks sharing the why of the Millennial Kingdom, but I want to go back to the details of the age to come, most of which are from the Millennial Kingdom. Through these details, I want to reinforce the idea that Heaven is better than we can imagine. I shared previously that my view of “Heaven” has not always been all that great. It always sounded far better than the alternative, but maybe not something that sounded fun for eternity. That sentence sounds horrible, doesn’t it? I don’t feel I’m alone though. The reason I believe I had such a low view of Heaven and possibly you might, too, is because we’ve not looked at the many details Scripture gives on the age to come.

Previously, I shared some misconceptions I’ve had and then how recognizing the different “phases” of Heaven can help show us how amazing the age to come is for believers. We looked at when a believer passes now, their soul is with the Lord and is in paradise, as Jesus said to thief on the cross. Then when Jesus returns, the physical bodies of believers are resurrected and made new. Those whose souls were with the Lord come back with Him in their prefect, eternal bodies. Raptured and resurrected believers will then reign with Jesus on earth through the 1000-year Messianic or Millennial Kingdom. Then after those 1,000 years, the Earth and Heavens are made new. The amazing city, the New Jerusalem, comes to earth. God the Father returns to live among His people on the new Earth for eternity. Just through the identity of those phases, Heaven becomes more tangible and real. Beyond the defining of those phases, there is one passage that helped it become even more real to me. Are you ready?

The passage that brought the Millennial Kingdom to life for me is found in the Book of Ezekiel. The context of the passage is Ezekiel telling about the final campaign against Israel which culminates in the Battle of Armageddon. According to the timeline in Revelation 19-20, it is at this time when Jesus returns, defeats the Antichrist, binds Satan in the Abyss and begins His rule. Therefore, the resurrected and raptured Saints are on earth with Jesus. Ezekiel’s prophecy in this passage tells what believing survivors and resurrected saints will do at the start of this 1,000-year kingdom and following the Battle of Armageddon.

Again, this verse transformed my view of Heaven and made it better than I could imagine. Are you ready?

“And I will make a vast graveyard for Gog (Antichrist) and his hordes (army of the Antichrist) in the Valley of the Travelers, east of the Dead Sea. It will block the way of those who travel there, and they will change the name of the place to the Valley of Gog’s Hordes. It will take seven months for the people of Israel to bury the bodies and cleanse the land. Everyone in Israel will help, for it will be a glorious victory for Israel when I demonstrate my glory on that day, says the Sovereign Lord. After seven months, teams of men will be appointed to search the land for skeletons to bury, so the land will be made clean again. Whenever bones are found, a marker will be set up so the burial crews will take them to be buried in the Valley of Gog’s Hordes. (There will be a town there named Hamonah, which means ‘horde.’) And so the land will finally be cleansed. (Ezek. 39:11-16 NLT with clarification added).

Did that get you excited about the Millennial Kingdom? Did you catch it? Ezekiel said that those is Israel, which would be survivors of the Great Tribulation and possibly the new residents of Israel — the resurrected Saints, will bury bodies for seven months. Then after that, we will be in teams to locate remains and mark them for burial. That was it, that was the verse that made Heaven better than I could imagine.

Okay, maybe I’m not that excited about burying bodies. Maybe as resurrected saints, we will get to serve as supervisors. Seriously, though this particular task doesn’t sound all that fun, but it does point to the gritty, realness of the Millennial Kingdom. We will be back on earth. We can travel to places we have known. We will live and function in this world in perfect glorified bodies. Satan will be bound. Jesus will be reigning on earth. Doesn’t that sound amazing? And we’ve only scratched the surface.

There’s actually another passage in Ezekiel that sounds more fun than this passage we just read:

“He said to me, ‘This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds — like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.’” (Ezek. 47:8-10 NIV).

So, after seven plus months of burying and marking bodies, anyone who likes can join me on this fishing hotspot revealed to Ezekiel. Heaven is better than we can imagine.

Roy Tilley Celebrates 50th Anniversary in the Ministry

0

By Sherrie Smith

On April 1, 1973, Roy Tilley surrendered to the ministry and was ordained at Bradford Baptist Church in Bradford. Fast-forward 50 years later to April 23, 2023, when Church at Willow Beach celebrated this milestone anniversary with Bro. Tilley and his wife of 52 years, Dorothy. The celebration service featured special worship music by Chip Distin and Steve Secrease, sharing of Church at Willow Beach memories relayed by long-time member Robert Post and a special message given by Sonny Harvison, retired pastor and one of Roy’s long-time friends. Bro. Harvison also interviewed Bro. Tilley and Dorothy discussing their 50 years in ministry before sharing a message based on Joshua 14:6-15. The message highlighted how Caleb, in his 80s, was still willing and able to continue the work God had for him, conquering more mountains and giving God the glory.

Bro. Tilley’s first pastoral position was Newark Baptist Church in 1974. He served as a BMA of Arkansas missionary and started Ramsey Heights Baptist Church in Batesville. He also pastored First Baptist Church in Waldo, Calvary Baptist Church in Morrilton and Park Place Baptist Church in Little Rock. In 1999, Bro. Tilley became pastor of Rose City Immanuel in North Little Rock. The church relocated to its present address and changed its name to Church at Willow Beach.

Long-time church member Robert Post related stories of Bro. Tilley’s call to pastor Church at Willow Beach and how he has faithfully pastored this church almost 24 years. Many of Robert’s comments highlighted a recurring theme that loving God’s Word and loving people accounted for Bro. Tilley’s longevity in the ministry. This love was evidence by stories of Bro. Tilley’s love for the churches he pastored, love for the Church’s community and participation with their events and Bro. Tilley’s love of sharing the truth of God’s Word every Sunday from the pulpit. Robert said this type of love has developed and deepened from being church at Willow Beach’s pastor for over almost 24 years, and the Church looks forward to celebrating Bro. Roy’s 25th pastoral anniversary in September 2024.

Bro. Harvison interviewed Bro. Roy and Dorothy as they discussed several thoughts and observations from their 50 years in ministry. Bro. Tilley thanked Dorothy for being with him, supporting him, praying for him, encouraging him, loving him and willingly making the necessary moves in answer to ministry calls over the years. He credited this, in addition to God and prayers, for his longevity in the ministry.

When asked about how he came to the ministry, Bro. Tilley shared his story. He delayed surrendering to the ministry for almost three years, but after talking with his pastor, Levi Reynolds at Bradford Baptist Church, he knew he was ready for the ministry. When he asked Bro. Reynolds “How do you know if you are ready for ministry?” Bro. Reynolds responded, “He that desires the work of a bishop desires a good work.” Bro. Reynolds then affirmed Bro. Tilley’s calling by saying it is not normal to want to be a pastor but it is a calling.

Bro. Harvison asked Bro. Tilley to share his observations about changes in churches in general over the decades. Bro. Tilley responded that the technology we have today did not exist earlier. Technology today makes sermon research quicker. There is also cause for alarm. There does not seem to be as much commitment in churches today as in past years. And it seems that if a pastor is not a good communicator, he’d better be a good entertainer. Bro. Tilley shared his concern that the Word of God is not front and center or being taught as it should.

The service ended with Bro. Post presenting the Tilley’s with a custom plaque and love offering celebrating the 50 years in the ministry. After the service, a golf themed potluck was held in the Tilleys’ honor, complete with a special cake and a putting contest. Bro. Tilley won the putting contest.

The following Sunday, Bro. Tilley shared the following in the bulletin: “Where do I possibly begin with this article? There aren’t enough words to express how much Dorothy and I appreciate your celebrating our 50 years in ministry. ‘Thank you’ sounds trivial, but please know that it comes from deep within. I was told that the planning started late last year. You certainly hid it well. You finally had to inform me a couple of weeks before the service because of the guest speaker and music. I know there had to be a lot of people involved in putting it together. Thank you for the cards, gifts, love offering, decorations, special bulletin and kind words. But most of all ‘thank you’ for your love. Dorothy and I feel so blessed to be part of such a loving and caring church family. We love you immensely!”

Did you notice the love coming through his comments? We invite you to come hear Bro. Tilley faithfully preach God’s Word every Sunday at 10:30 and witness the love for yourself. Don’t tell Bro. Tilley, but we are already planning his 25th anniversary with Church at Willow Beach!

LEAVE IT TO CLEAVER: Where Do You Look?

“I lift my eyes to you, the one enthroned in heaven. Like a servant’s eyes on his master’s hand, like a servant girl’s eyes on her mistress’s hand, so our eyes are on the Lord our God until he shows us favor” (Psa. 123:1-2 CSB).

A little while ago, I visited one of the presidential libraries near me. In the museum was a replica of the oval office. Everything was exactly as it was when the president sat there. I sat in the big chair behind the impressive desk to have my picture made for friends to see. I could only imagine the choices made in that Oval Office to direct the many moving parts of this country and even the world. It is certainly a place where powerful decisions are made, decisions that routinely affect the daily life of this planet’s inhabitants.

There is One enthroned in Heaven who exerts more power than the president who sits in the Oval Office behind the big desk, seated in the big chair. As we go to worship, even before we get to the church house, let us lift our eyes to this place — and especially to this One. The Lord is enthroned in Heaven with powerful myriads and myriads of angelic hosts to do His bidding.

The true servant looks for direction from his master. The devoted servant is comfortable with the support her mistress provides. They know the nuances of the master as he directs them with a move of his hand or a nod of her head. May we be that kind of servant man or woman who looks to Him to give us favor as we come to His place to worship and serve Him.

In January, I took my first “personal prayer retreat.” This was something I had wanted to do for a long time but had never known where to start. I was able to get a cute, cheap Airbnb nearby that provided a perfect space to spend the weekend in prayer! If you have ever wanted to do a personal prayer retreat, take this as your sign to plan it now!

In February, I had the “Ends of the Earth” fundraiser dinner and auction at my church. It was a wonderful time of food, fellowship and prayer for unreached people groups. I was overwhelmed by the support that was shown by people who helped set up, donated items, participated in the auction and donated food and time. That night we raised over $8,000, which will be a huge help to my training program tuition! I also ended my time as Arkansas State GMA promotor after our state meeting. It was such a success and we had so much fun at CBC! Please be in prayer for our new state promotor and the GMA program as a whole.

March brought times of fellowship with Friendship Baptist Church in Greenbrier and with First Baptist in Damascus at Adult VBS! In April, we celebrated my best friend and her marriage to the love of her life! I was blessed to stand by her as maid of honor on her special day. I had a great time of fellowship with Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Cassville, Mo.

The last week of April was our national association meeting. It was so wonderful to see so many old friends and meet new ones! We ended the week with a time of rest and relaxation in Hot Springs with our Missionary Care Conference. It was so exciting to sit and fellowship with other workers from around the globe.

How to Support?

I leave for training in August. I will continue to raise support over the next few months with a focus on gaining monthly supporters. As I mentioned in my previous newsletter, monthly supporters will be helpful while I am in training, but they will become essential when I move to the long-term field! These supporters will allow me to live and do ministry for a longer period of time. Please pray that God will lead me to these willing churches and individuals that will be my monthly financial “senders.”

I currently have about 50% of the monthly support pledges I will need for the long-term field. If you are interested in giving monthly, please contact me for more information! I would love to meet with you to discuss how to be a part of my sending team.

Another way you can help support is through my “Ministry Wish List” on Amazon! Visit amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/281TTEFC8HAZ9?ref_=wl_fv_le to see how you can help. Everything on the list will be used for training or traveling and are items that will be very helpful to have throughout the next year. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Prayer Requests & Praises

• For my training program classmates.

• Praise God that I was able to spend time in fellowship with fellow workers from around the globe and spend time in rest and relaxation before I go to the field.

• Pray that I will be able to discern a place and people group to serve among long term.
